On Thursday, May 20, 2021, five Central Bucks South seniors were recognized for committing to continue their track and field careers at the collegiate level.
Maureen Bosak – Elizabethtown College (Track & Field)
Major: Biology
Final list of colleges: Elizabethtown, Ursinus, Bloomsburg, Penn State
Reasons for choosing Elizabethtown: “I really liked the campus when I went there, and I just felt like I fit in with the team.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I kind of thought about it, but once the coach started talking to me more, that’s when I was like – all right, I guess I’ll run.”
Coach Jason Gable says: “Maureen’s been part of the team for just about all the years here for cross country, winter and spring track. She’s a distance runner. She was a varsity letter winner this fall and was one of our top 10 runners through all of the cross country season. Through winter, she kept up with distance training. Even in the kind of winter we had where we didn’t have many meets, she was a leader to the younger distance girls, and they were able to keep up the training. She ran on our 4x800 at the league championships, she was one of our top six 4x800 distance runners and came with us as an alternate to districts.”
About Maureen:
Favorite food: Tacos
Favorite TV show: Criminal Minds
Favorite music: Pop
Stella Han – Franklin & Marshall College (Track & Field)
Major: Undecided
Reasons for choosing Franklin & Marshall: “I have no idea what I want to do, so I chose to go to a liberal arts school so I can figure it out.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I thought it was just going to be a high school thing, but then I got in and committed to Franklin & Marshall – they’re Division 3, so I decided to give it a shot. I talked to the coaches, and they asked me to be part of the team.”
Coach Maureen Reily says: “Stella Han was a leader on the throwing team. The other throwers – boys and girls – looked up to her. She’s a quiet leader but determined and steadfast in what she does on a daily basis. She leads by example, and her work ethic is what makes her so successful. We wish her all the best – she will be sorely missed.”

Favorite TV show: BoJack Horseman
Favorite music: Rock
Audrey Johnson – Emory University (Track & Field)
Major: Chemistry
Final list of colleges: Emory, Swarthmore
Reasons for choosing Emory: “First of all, the campus is so beautiful, and also when I went down and visited the coaches and some of the team members, it was just a really nice environment. Those are people I want to be around.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I really liked doing track in high school, but I don’t think I decided until this year to actually go and compete in college. I think it was because of how half of my junior season went – it wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to keep doing it, and because Emory matched me academically, it was the perfect fit.”
Coach Jason Gable says: “Audrey Johnson is a four-year winter and spring track runner. She’s one of the top athletes throughout all these years. Audrey qualified for district championships in all of her individual events and two relays. Her individual events were the 100, the 200, the long jump, the triple jump and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Audrey is a tremendously hard worker. She has set top three or top five marks in all of her events during her senior year. She’s one of the hardest workers on our team and a stalwart on our team. She’s a great leader by example and just has been a great teammate to everybody around her.”

Isabella Kowalski – Arcadia University (Track & Field)
Major: Psychology
Final list of colleges: Arcadia, Keiser University, Florida State, University of Central Florida
Reasons for choosing Arcadia: “I realized I could be on the track team and I would be close to home too, and after I visited, I really enjoyed the campus and everything.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I realized I didn’t want to just finish my career in high school and I wanted to continue it because I knew I could get somewhere with enough practice and effort.”
Coach Jason Gable says: “Isabella Kowalski was one of our senior hurdlers. She qualified for districts as a member of the 4x100 relay her senior year. She was one of our top 100 high hurdlers, long jumpers and triple jumpers on the team. Isabella is just a great all-around athlete. She’s definitely found her own niche in putting up some stellar marks in the hurdles and the jumps, and she will be taking her talents to Arcadia University. She’s joining a very young team and going to walk onto that team being one of the top athletes to help lead them throughout the years as they grow as a program.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “The start of this year I realized how much I was going to miss the sport after I graduated, so I want to continue on.”
Coach Jason Gable says: “Julia Vit is a distance runner for cross country, but she was more of a mid-distance/long sprinter for our track team. Her specialties are the 200 and 400. She’s been a steadfast teammate on our 4x400 relay that finished fifth in districts. Julia has been a great leader and captain throughout her senior year, always guiding the athletes and the younger girls in what to do throughout the program and how to work out in practice. Julia has grown to truly and admire this sport throughout her senior year.
