Josh Conley – Wilkes University (Volleyball)
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Final list of colleges: Wilkes, Elizabethtown
Reasons for choosing Wilkes: “The school community was nice, the team was very welcoming, and I liked the coach.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level? “It was junior year when I started thinking – I want to continue this in college. I really took to the sport, and it was something that interested me to pursue further in my career.”
Coach Dave Schlosser says: “After an ACL injury that kept him out of his senior season, Josh is recovering nicely and is on track to be able to play at Wilkes College this upcoming school year. Josh was the most improved player on his club team, TNT Volleyball, before the injury.”
About Josh:
Favorite food: Cannolis
Favorite movie: The Benchwarmers
Favorite artist: Zach Bryan Band
Ben Grove – Stevenson University (Volleyball)
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Final list of colleges: Stevenson, Loyola Chicago, Arcadia, Misericordia, Eastern
Reasons for choosing Eastern: “I liked their campus and location, their volleyball program was really good, and the academics were really nice as well.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level? “Basically, my sophomore year I knew immediately. I was playing with a bunch of the guys, and I was getting better as time went on, I fell in love with it, and I knew this is what I wanted to do.”
Coach Dave Schlosser says: “After recovering from finger surgery in the very beginning of the season Ben went on to be first team all-league, first team all-tournament in both tournaments we entered, all-district and CB South’s most dynamic offensive player. He was our team MVP and one of our captains. He also played for me at TNT Volleyball Club. Ben is going to Stevenson University to play beach doubles and indoor volleyball.”
About Ben:
Favorite food: French Fries
Favorite TV show: The Office
Favorite artist: Childish Gambino
Chase Stribling – Stevenson University (Beach Volleyball)
Major: Elementary Education
Final list of colleges: Stevenson, Marymount, Elizabethtown
Reasons for choosing Stevenson: “It was one of the only schools that offered beach volleyball, which is what I prefer compared to indoor. It’s a half hour from DC, so it’s super close to everything, and it’s out of Pennsylvania, and I thought the southern environment was really cool.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in beach volleyball at the collegiate level? “I didn’t even start playing volleyball until my sophomore year of high school. I fell in love with it immediately. I liked indoor, but it didn’t feel all the way right. That summer after sophomore year I really branched out, and I was like, ‘Let’s try playing outdoor, let’s try something else,’ and I loved that even more. Both Marymount and Elizabethtown only had indoor programs, but I heard I could play outdoor beach and doubles. That just sounded so much more like me, so I was like, ‘Let’s go do that.’”
Coach Dave Schlosser says: “Chase Stribling was a libero and defensive specialist for CB South and TNT Volleyball Club. He has a passionate love of the game and is a strong doubles player. He is constantly working and improving his game. He is also attending Stevenson to play beach doubles and is majoring in elementary education.”
About Chase:
Favorite food: “Banana bread - I’ve been eating it since I was a kid. My mom loves making it, and I love making it.”
Favorite movie: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Favorite artists: Daniel Caesar & Frank Ocean
