On Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, Central Bucks South seniors Colin Abbonizio and Matt McDonald were recognized for committing to continue their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level. Please visit the Photo Gallery for photos of the event.
Colin Abbonizio – University of Hartford (Lacrosse)
Major: Criminal Justice
Final list of colleges: Hartford, Salisbury, Florida Southern
Reasons for choosing Hartford: “Definitely the campus itself. I went on two visits, and I really got to connect with a lot of the players and the coaches, and the coaches really seem as though they care about their players not only as athletes but as students, so that was very easy for me to pick.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I have been playing lacrosse and even ice hockey my entire life, and something I’ve always told myself – I always wanted to play in college at the highest level, whether it was for hockey or lacrosse, and for it to be lacrosse, it’s a dream come true.”
Coach Mike Strayline says: “Colin is a senior captain and received All-Suburban One Honorable Mention recognition at attack in 2019. Colin is a four-year varsity player and is an outstanding young man. His teammates respect him, and he is a strong leader. Colin plays hard all the time and will help lead our team in 2020.”

Matt McDonald – Muhlenberg College (Lacrosse)
Major: Computer Science
Final list of colleges: Muhlenberg, Penn State, Maryland, Elizabethtown
Reasons for choosing Muhlenberg: “I wanted a blend of high academics and athletics, and Muhlenberg has that. When I went to visit, I met some of the team, and it felt like where I should be.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “My junior year I was kind of iffy, and I knew I had to apply to others schools too because I wasn’t 100 percent sure I was playing in college. As the junior season rolled around, I got super amped up for the season and I thought, ‘I can’t not play this in college.”
Coach Mike Strayline says: “Matt is a senior captain and led our team in ground balls and caused turnovers in 2019. He’s a very intelligent player and great athlete. Matt leads our defense on and off the field.”
