On Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, Central Bucks South seniors Carter Hinds and Joshua Yang were recognized for committing to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level.
Carter Hinds – Shippensburg University (Baseball)
Major: Business Management
Final list of colleges: Shippensburg, West Chester, Millersville, Bloomsburg
Reasons for choosing Shippensburg: “On my visits and when I was talking to the coaches, I just felt the most welcome there, and I feel like I’m going to have the most opportunities in athletics and academics there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I’ve been playing baseball my whole life, and I always wanted to play as long as I could. Probably around eighth grade I really started taking it seriously.”
Coach Kevin Bray says: “Carter is a tremendous athlete – we’ve seen that from day one. He has a tremendous work ethic in the weight room, and that translates onto the baseball field as well. He’s got tremendous speed, he’s very intelligent with a high baseball IQ, and he can do pretty much anything on the baseball field. He can run, throw, hit, and he plays a tremendous middle infield spot. I’m not surprised that he’s here at this point in his athletic and academic ventures. He’s going to be a tremendous asset for Shippensburg baseball program and the community in general. We’re big fans of how Carter carries himself, and he does a tremendous job working with his teammates and being a leader on and off the diamond.”

Joshua Yang – University of the Sciences (Baseball)
Major: Chemistry
Final list of colleges: USciences, Delaware, Montclair State, Stony Brook
Reasons for choosing USciences: “After going on a visit and meeting the coaches and seeing the school itself, that’s when I really knew – that school is going to be the best fit for me. Also, I really liked the baseball program.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I’ve always wanted to play baseball in college. That’s always been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. As I was getting older, I started the recruiting process itself. As I narrowed it down, I realized USciences is where I want to play.”
Coach Kevin Bray says: “Josh definitely has a high ceiling. We were very encouraged about what he brought to the table last year. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see much of that, but Josh has worked really, really hard in the offseason and during the pandemic time as well to get himself into this position where he can play at the next level at the University of the Sciences.”
