On Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, Central Bucks South senior Kasey Dietzel was recognized for committing to continue her lacrosse career at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Kasey Dietzel – United States Naval Academy (Lacrosse)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Navy, Boston University, St. Joseph’s, Drexel
Reasons for choosing Navy: “I chose Navy because it was the right fit for me. When I visited and heard the stories of the other Midshipmen, it just really inspired me. It’s what I want to do in my career.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “My older sisters all went to school for lacrosse, so it was something I just grew up with, and I’ve always just loved the game of lacrosse. I’ve always wanted to be like (my sisters), and it was ultimately what I wanted to do in the end, so it all worked out.”
Coach Janique Craig says: “Out of all the years I’ve coached here, Kasey is by far the most unselfish and prettiest player I’ve ever had. She truly makes everyone around her better. It’s very rare to find a player like that. She’s a true teammate.
“Kasey has been a midfielder since her freshman year and has been leading our team in the midfield and helped us be successful the past few years. Her moves to goal, she can play great defense, and she’s an all-around superb player. She has a 4.1 GPA in the classroom and she’s a leader on the hockey field – just to balance all of that is extremely rare. She’s a special player and girl.”
Ultimate lacrosse coach Michele DeJuliis says: “I’ve known Kasey for so long, and since she’s been a little kid, she’s always been super passionate about the sport and about being a good teammate, being respectful to her coaches, parents and fans. She’s just an all-around amazing kid and super fun to coach. She takes what you say and puts it to use immediately and makes those adjustments. Just the support she shows on and off the field is phenomenal.
“As a player, you have the full package. She’s dynamic, she’s effective at both ends of the field. In the midfield, she’s huge between the 30s, just making plays. Offensively, she can put the ball away, she can feed her teammates. She can do so much to help your team win. Obviously, defensively with her size, she’s fantastic. She’s come so far, and her development has just been really fun to watch. She has a good crew of kids that surround her, and it’s been fun to watch them grow up together, not only as amazing players but just really incredible people. Obviously, I think Navy is getting the good end of the deal here.”
