Anna Green – University of Cincinnati (Lacrosse)

Major:  Business Undecided

Reasons for choosing Cincinnati:  “I just fell in love with the campus as soon as I got there. It wasn’t like any other school I went to before. As soon as I walked on the campus, it felt like I was meant to be there over other schools I’d visited before. I loved the school spirit, I loved the urban setting, and I really loved the team and the coaches.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level?  “In ninth grade it kind of hit me. I originally wanted to play soccer in college, but I got cut from the South soccer team, so then I dedicated my time to lacrosse and I fell in love with it even more. From there on out, I just knew. I started (the recruiting process) end of freshman year, and I committed the winter of my sophomore year.”

Coach Janique Craig says:  “Anna hands down is the best 1v1 player this program has ever had. I have the utmost confidence in her to be able to drive to goal and beat another player even 1v2 or 1v3 sometimes. What sets her apart the most is just her mindset and attitude. She is just so positive and is a true competitor. When she walked into my first meeting freshman year, I could tell right away she had that ‘it’ factor. She’s positive, she helps out with the younger girls with their stick work, she’s going to be a captain this year. She was a leader last year on the field and led us to a lot of wins, and this year she’s going to have an even better season, and she’s going to be a fantastic leader.
“As far as Cincinnati goes, I know the head coach, Regina Oliver. She went to Ohio State and I played against her. We used to mark up against each other, and I knew they would be a match right away – player and coach – because Regina is just an athlete’s coach. Regina loves the raw athletes, and that’s what Anna is. She’s a fierce competitor and a raw athlete. Regina is an awesome coach, and I think Anna’s going to do really, really well at Cincinnati.”
