Nancy McGrath – Monmouth University (Cross Country/Track)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Monmouth, La Salle, Rider
Reasons for choosing Monmouth: “When I went there and met with the coach (Joe Compagni), he was very welcoming, and he made sure I knew everything that Monmouth had to offer. After meeting with him and touring the campus, I knew immediately that is where I wanted to spend the next four years. Also, when I went on the overnight with the team, they made me feel like part of the family instantly, and that was something very special for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in cross country and track at the collegiate level? “I started running my freshman year, and I just fell in love with it, so I thought – I want to run for the rest of my life, and I may as well do it at the highest level possible. I’ve just been working hard every year to get me to that level.”
Coach Michael Cox says: “Nancy was a fantastic contributor to our program. She’s a scholar-athlete, a state medalist. She has been integral for both cross country and indoor and outdoor track and as a key member of our relays that have performed very well at the state level. She is one of the best captains and team leaders we have ever had in our program. She is involved in leading both the boys and the girls cross country teams as our main captain.”
