Reasons for choosing Stevenson: “After doing my visits and talking to the coaches – they say when you go on the campus you’re going to end up at, you can get the feel once you’re there. As soon as I stepped on that campus in Baltimore, Md., I knew this was my home for the next four years.
“After talking to the coaches, I knew it was a great match for me for the athletic intensity I want to keep and also academic opportunities and business opportunities after college.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level? “I came into volleyball late. I started in ninth grade, and I was a bench player on jayvee, but after playing club my sophomore year and wanting to get better at the sport – we went to nationals for our club team over the summer of sophomore year, and I think that’s when it really clicked for me – this could be a future for me in college. I got really hooked in the sport, and I want to play for as long as I can.”
Coach Matt Ehlers says: “When he came in as a sophomore, I thought he had the potential to be really good if he applied himself, and he has. He’s really gone above and beyond. He’s played middle hitter and last year he moved to outside hitter for us. He played a little bit of everything. He’s a good hardworking kid, he cares a lot about the team, he helps with the girls’ team, and he’s really become very passionate about the sport.”
