On Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, Central Bucks South senior Courtney Pohl was recognized for committing to continue her volleyball career at Catholic University.

Final list of colleges: Catholic University, Penn State Harrisburg, Dickinson
Reasons for choosing Catholic: “I think Catholic’s environment felt like a better fit. The location, the distance from home – it just all felt better than the other schools I was looking at. I also know the internships are really big there, and D.C. gives you so many opportunities, and that was definitely a big thing.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about it mid-junior year and I was like, ‘I really love the sport.’ I talked to my brother, who swam in high school. He said, ‘I don’t love the sport as much as you love volleyball, so if you really want to do it, go for it.’ I was always told by my coaches early on, ‘Even if you don’t want to play, go out like you’re going to play because you can always decide not to, but you can never go back.’”
Coach Kurt Godfrey says: “One of the things that stood out about Courtney was her hard work and dedication to the sport. She’s the hardest working kid I think I’ve ever had in my 12 years of coaching. She’s an incredible captain and leader on the court, not to mention off the court. She’s just one of those kids every coach wishes they had and wishes they had an entire team of. I’m so excited for her to go to Catholic, I’m so excited for the next step in her volleyball career. I can’t wait to truly see the kind of person she’ll turn into. She’s certainly one of a kind, and I’m fortunate that for a very short time in her career I was able to coach her.”
