On Friday, June 8, 2018, Central Bucks South senior Dante Poli was recognized for committing to continue his lacrosse career at Stockton University. Check back for photos of the event.
Dante Poli – Stockton University (Lacrosse)
Major: Undecided but possibly Kinesiology/Physical Therapy
Final list of colleges: Stockton, Ursinus, York, St. Joseph’s, Monmouth, Rutgers
Reasons for choosing Stockton: “When I got there, I just felt everything click. I don’t know how to describe it, but you just kind of know when it’s the school. I loved the guys. I got to spend a night down there with the team, and they were just awesome. Everyone down there was so nice. The coach is awesome, and I just loved the campus.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “Freshman year it wasn’t in my mind, but as the years progressed – sophomore year, junior year, I really buckled (down) and figured everything out. I was kind of late with it – I just kept putting things on hold. There was so much stress coming my way.”
Coach Mike Strayline says: “Dante’s had a great run with us, that’s for sure. He’s just a great kid, He’s a team player, and he was a captain this year and was our leading scorer. He’s a complete player – offensively, defensively. He rides well, he does everything good. He sets a high standard when he’s on the field and when he’s off the field. When he’s in the weight room or in the gym, he’s always pushing everyone around him. He’s got a great personality too. No matter what he does, he’s excelling at it. He has the program record for goals (156) and total points (258), and he had 102 assists. This year alone he had 61 goals and 41 assists (102 points). That was a great year, and the guys around him all thrived too. We had four other guys all score 30 goals. It was a very good season. Dante made all the guys around him better, and that’s the key. It’s going to make the team that much better next year.”
