On Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, Central Bucks South senior Saara Sheth was recognized for continuing her rowing career at Northeastern University.

Reasons for choosing Northeastern: “Ultimately, it came down to location and the major I was going with. I have always loved the city of Boston ever since I was a
young kid, and I knew it would be a perfect fit. With the amazing chemical engineering program that Northeastern offers, I knew that overall it would be a really amazing fit for me.
What was the progression that led you to competing in rowing at the collegiate level? “I’ve been rowing for five years. Before that, I was actually into swimming for around 10 years, and a lot of my teammates at swimming started to transition into rowing, and I thought it was a pretty interesting niche sport.
“We have a huge river – the Schuylkill - nearby, and l gave it a shot. I started in eighth grade, and COVID really changed everything up. Then finally sophomore year, I realized I could have a future in this sport, so I really changed my mindset. I actually started the recruiting process in June going into my junior year, so it was a pretty long process for me, but I would definitely say it was well worth it and well deserved in the end.”
Swan Creek Rowing Club coach Anthony Gambescia says: “Saara has been an integral part of the rowing team for going on five years. She is an outstanding leader on the team and taken the club from just a little club on the Delaware to a very competitive club going to national level events, such as Head of the Charles (Regatta). Saara is going to be returning to the Charles, which is where Northeastern rows out of. We’re looking forward to her coming back and helping the team when she can.”
