Reasons for choosing Davidson: “Davidson is one of the best academic schools in the South, and I’m looking forward to being able to attend a school where I will be academically challenged. Davidson’s community is very small and personal and I liked the feel I have when I’m on campus.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level? “I’ve always loved playing field hockey, but it wasn’t until middle school that my dad brought up playing in college. I knew I wanted to continue playing past high school, so all during freshmen, sophomore and junior year, I traveled to different schools. At each school, I would play some hockey and get a feel for the school.
True North coach Jeff Harding says: "Sarah has invested herself from a very young age with the True North Hockey Academy. Her commitment to our programs have developed her skill sets where she was able to see top level club hockey on a continual basis, building her confidence and maturity in goal. Identifying her potential, we placed her in a familiar situation each season where she was the only keeper on various showcase teams, which is unheard of. Placing Sarah in pressure situations time and time again with the right guidance has allowed her to developmentally reach her benchmarks year in, year out. A lot of commitment and dedication is required to continually strive at that level, something which Sarah has embraced and internalized. With so many Division One programs looking at international players, Sarah has separated herself from her recruiting class with her dynamic play and leadership skills. The True North Hockey Academy will miss her contributions to our programs and the youth goalkeepers that look up to her as a role model."
