On Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, Central Bucks West senior Kate Edenson was recognized for committing to continue her track career at Boston University.
Kate Edenson – Boston University (Track & Field)
Major: Biochemistry
Final list of colleges: Boston University, Northeastern, George Washington
Reasons for choosing BostonU: “I chose BU because it seemed like a good balance for my academic and athletic goals.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level? “It came about probably my junior year. My performances started to increase, and I thought it would be great to take it on to the next level.”
Coach Kevin Munnelly says: “In my estimation, Kate has been a leader since the moment she stepped onto the track. Last year she was in cross country and did as much as she could but then suffered an injury. In winter track and spring track, she came on like gangbusters. We thought her real strength was going to be the 400, but she stepped up and started running the 800 and never looked back. Her championship run at the state meet was most impressive. She went out in the final in the 800, running with the rest of the runners in that race and with 300 meters to go just walked away from the rest of the group. She has that ability to go at a high level and, even after that, step up and move even faster. This year she was very helpful on our small cross country team. She was a leader and did well at leagues, did well at districts and qualified for the state meet, which is incredible for a girl whose strength is in the 400 and 800. She stepped up and ran hard and ran the 5K really well for us. I’m very impressed with what Kate has done, and she is a leader for us, which I most appreciate.”
