On Thursday, May 19, 2022, Central Bucks West senior Michael Long was recognized for committing to continue his lacrosse career at Immaculata University.
Michael Long – Immaculata University (Lacrosse)
Major: Business Management
Final list of colleges: Immaculata, Virginia Wesleyan, Florida State, Westminster
Reasons for choosing Immaculata: “Just going through the recruiting process, coach (Matt) Justice – he just made you feel welcome, and the campus just clicked with me. Having a chance to compete for a starting spot as a freshman also was a big factor.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I started playing my freshman year, and I didn’t get serious about it until my junior year. I started playing club ball, and a lot of the college attention started coming. I went on the visits, and I ended up committing at the beginning of the school year. I was just playing this season having fun, knowing I was going to the next level.”
Coach Matt Coverdale says: “Michael transferred to West from Hatboro-Horsham and has been a great addition. He came to us as a junior, and he’s a great young man with great character, always worked hard and made sure he lived up to what we expect of all our athletes. He took a lot of pride, particularly in his performance at the face-off X. He’s been focused on improving that part of his game and has always done a great job, asking questions about the technical things he can improve and how he can improve as an overall player, and I think all those things are going to serve him well at Immaculata. We’re looking forward to seeing how he can continue to develop and achieve at that level.”
