On Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, Central Bucks West senior Angelina Sherba was recognized for committing to continue her softball career at Longwood University.
Angelina Sherba – Longwood University (Softball)
Major: Biology with a concentration in Pre-Med
Final list of colleges: Longwood, Morgan State, Lehigh, Albright
Reasons for choosing Longwood: “I love my coaches – they’re the kind of style that I want. She’s going to be super tough, but there also is another coach. I love the pitching coach – we work together very well. When I walked on the campus, I knew it was somewhere I wanted to be.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “It did not seem like it was going to happen for a while. I almost did not get my scholarship because in one outing I did not do well, so the coach told me I had to do all these things. I had a period of two months, and she held a clinic for my team and several other teams, and I had to prove that I could earn it.”
Coach Geoff Thompson says: “She works real hard, she’s a good all-around player, she’s an excellent pitcher, and what makes her stand out is she has a very good softball IQ. She really, really knows what to do out there.”
