Major:  Engineering

Final list of colleges:  Lehigh, Lafayette, Bucknell, York College, RPI

Reasons for choosing Lehigh:  “Lehigh has one of the best engineering programs in the country. I loved how I could play at a high level and receive a great education. Also, it is close enough to home that my family can come to games. From the first time I stepped on campus my freshman year, I knew this was the college for me.”

What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I have always wanted to play a collegiate sport since playing on club/travel teams, but I was torn between field hockey and softball. I received high awards and recognition for both sports, so I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to continue with. As I gained knowledge about both sports, I became amazed by the limitless amount of skill that field hockey had. I love how I learn something new every time I step on the field and that’s how I knew this was the sport for me. When I began narrowing down my options, I found Lehigh was everything I wanted in a college.”

Coach Elaine McGoldrick says:  “Madison Gianelle has been a four-year varsity starter at Cheltenham. Madison's dream for the past four years has been to play at the D1 level, so I am very happy for her that she will play at Lehigh University. Madison led the Cheltenham team this season with six goals and five assists. In addition to the Cheltenham High School team, Madison played on the Souderton Strikers club team and devoted herself to honing her stick skills to get past defenders and she put herself in a situation to drive the ball into the circle for a Cheltenham attack. Madison truly loves the sport of field hockey, she is genuinely excited about all the elements of the game, and is always ready to play.”
