Aspen Handel – Juniata College (Field Hockey & Lacrosse)
Major: Secondary Education History
Reasons for choosing Juniata: “Field hockey and lacrosse, family community and my major.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey and lacrosse at the collegiate level? “My sophomore year I realized how much I love field hockey, so I started training more and dedicating my time. I spoke to Jim Plappert to help with the recruiting process. After I was recruited and committed for field hockey, I spoke to the Juniata lacrosse coach and was recruited for lacrosse as well.”
Field hockey coach Lisa Belz says: “Aspen always played with heart and intensity. She was a true team player that rallied the team when they needed it. She worked hard during the season and in the offseason to always improve. She is dedicated and hardworking and Juniata College is very lucky to have her join their squad.”
Lacrosse coach Madison Hurwitz says: “Aspen joined our team as a junior, and she was the spark we didn’t even realize we were missing. Aspen is an extremely versatile student-athlete, and she is exceptionally coachable – playing wherever her coaches needed her. Aspen happily volunteered to coach younger aspiring lacrosse player (k-8), and she came to practice every day focused and eager to improve. Aspen completed our family, and we are going to miss her so much.”
