Jacob Waskowitz – Penn State University – Altoona (Golf)
Major: Finance
Reasons for choosing Penn State Altoona: “I wanted to ease into college to more of a smaller school and transition to a larger one as I grew more comfortable. PSU Altoona provided me with a great opportunity to begin at a smaller campus and transition to University Park for my junior and senior year. Penn State also has a fantastic business school, which will prepare me well for pursuing a career in finance.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in golf at the collegiate level? “I first started playing golf my sophomore year of high school and never stopped. I played for the school team, which really helped me develop into a more competitive and experienced player. I also started competing in Philadelphia Junior Tour events over the summer to prepare for the fall high school season. Playing in college was never a focus for me but always a goal. I wanted to prove to myself that through hard work I could take golf as far as I want.”
Coach Greg Young says: “Jake had a really good career at CR South. He helped us win a SOL National Conference co-championship his junior year and was one of our best players over his career. He was a two-time District One qualifier and all-league selection his senior year.”
