On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, Council Rock South seniors Rianna Shields and Carley Irvin were recognized for committing to continue their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level.
“I could not be any more proud of our two girls,” coach Madison Hurwitz said. “They both started their freshman year, which you don’t see very often. Car took a lot of heat because it was hard to pick up those ground balls correctly, but she went home she worked her butt off. She was our two-time captain. She scored her 100th goal in our district playoff game. Under their leadership, we got to playoffs this year for the first time in many, many years, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the two of them. They’re just awesome.”
“Ri is going to Holy Family next year and was the heart and soul of our team. Both of them – if we needed something done, they would go and get it done. They played every minute of every game pretty much all four years. We would not be where we are today without them, without their talent, without their leadership. I could not be any more proud of both of them.”
