Veronica Eder – Auburn University (Cross Country/Track)
Major: Industrial Design
Final list of colleges: Auburn, Virginia Tech
Reasons for choosing Auburn: “I thought the campus was really beautiful, and I want to do industrial design as my major, and they’re a top-ranked Division One school for that. I looked at other schools that had (that major), but I like Auburn’s program better, and I thought the team was really nice.”
What was the progression that led you to compete in track and cross country at the collegiate level? “At the end of my spring season last year, I made it to states individually in the two-mile. I was just really focused on trying to get a good mile time, a good two-mile time and see where I could go with this and if it could help me get into a good school.”
Coach Sam Losorelli says: “As an athlete, I have never experienced or coached anyone who is so focused, so determined, so competitive, so poised and just someone who knows what she has to do to pursue her goals. She’s a great athlete.
“One characteristic she has - and it’s very admirable - is her work ethic when it comes to training. She never complains, she does what she has to do, and there’s never any drama. One of her best attributes is her training and her focus on training is very smart and very determined. She doesn’t try to do more than she should, and overall, she’s a very smart individual.”
