On Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, Central Bucks West seniors Tristan Hulme, Jack Neri, Ryan McKenna and Jack Fallon were recognized for committing to play collegiate football. Check back for photos of the event.
Jack Fallon – Kutztown University (Football)
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Stonehill, Lehigh
Reasons for choosing Kutztown: “It really just fit me as a whole. From the coaches, the campus, the people, the kids on the team – I clicked there, and I really just enjoyed it. Especially on my official visit, I was able to interact with everyone, and I could totally see myself just being there for the next four years.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “Ever since I’ve been playing football, my dream was always to play college football. It finally became a reality junior year when I went on some visits to D-I schools. During my senior season, I was able to filter out what I wanted in a school, and I was able to finally make that decision.”
Coach Rob Rowan says: “Jack had a season last year that left a legacy for a lifetime as a Buck. The numbers and stats speak for themselves, but much like many, if not all of our guys, it was his off-the-field characteristics that stood out the most. The combination of his drive and humility with his God-given abilities led to him maximizing every bit of who he was as a player and a person. His competitive spirit is something that impacted me in a way that I will never forget. Kutztown is getting a program-changing type player in the sense that he will raise everyone’s level of play around him. Our West family will most certainly be making some short trips to Kutztown, PA, to watch some football on Saturdays.”
About Jack:
Favorite food: Mac ‘N Cheese
Favorite TV show: Breaking Bad
Favorite music: Alternate
Tristan Hulme, Ursinus College (Football)
Major: Applied Economics
Final list of colleges: Ursinus, Lebanon Valley, Widener
Reasons for choosing Ursinus: “Initially when I got on campus, it was the vibe of it. It’s a little bit more of a smaller college where everybody knows each other, and it’s not too far from home.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “When I first started high school football sophomore year, I didn’t really think about it too much. It really wasn’t on my mind, but towards the end of junior year, I started playing varsity, and it became an opportunity for me that I might seek out. Specifically, after the North Penn game this year, I decided that high school couldn’t be my end. I still love the game.”
Coach Rob Rowan says: “I could talk about Tristan for days. Talk about a guy who does everything right. He’s so intelligent, so tough, and an incredible teammate and leader. He went from playing very little varsity football his junior year to becoming a first team all-league linebacker, second team all-league tight end and the captain of his team and our defense. That doesn’t happen by accident. His work ethic is through the roof, and he very much embodies what this program is all about - relentless positive energy, maximum effort and precision-like execution on and off the field. I am certain that Ursinus is getting a tremendous football player and a better person.”
About Tristan:
Favorite food: Ribs
Favorite TV show: The Office
Favorite music: Rap/J Cole
Ryan McKenna – The College of William & Mary (Football)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: William & Mary, UPenn, Villanova, Fordham
Reasons for choosing William & Mary: “The head coach, the coaching in general, the atmosphere I got from the players, the bond that I fostered with the other recruits on the trip there, the environment of the students – it was just an all-around great visit when I went.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “I always was the biggest kid on my team, but I didn’t know I wanted to play in college. Starting probably sophomore year in high school, I knew that I wanted to make it a future of mine. The recruiting really started picking up junior year summer and finished after my senior season.”
Coach Rob Rowan says: “Ryan was a dominant two-way player for us on both sides of the ball. He was the only player in the SOL Continental to receive first team all-league honors on both sides of the ball, which speaks volume about what others in the league thought of his play. His future is very bright at William and Mary, and our West family is excited to watch him grow and develop.”
About Ryan:
Favorite food: Chicken Pot Pie
Favorite TV show: Prison Break
Favorite music: Hip Hop/Rap
Jack Neri – Monmouth University (Football)
Major: Business with a concentration in Finance/Sports Management
Final list of colleges: Monmouth, West Chester, Furman, UConn
Reasons for choosing Monmouth: “It was definitely the people at Monmouth – the coaches, the players, the campus. Whenever I went to visit, it always felt like home. They always greeted me with open arms.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “My dad played in college, and at a young age, I knew I wanted to take it a step further and hopefully I’d have a chance to play in college. Luckily, I did, and it ended up working out – it was the right scenario.”
Coach Rob Rowan says: “Jack was a perfect role model for our younger players to look up to. He was a tone setter at practice each and every day, and his positive energy and consistent effort were contagious. He is a true competitor and an absolute gamer in clutch moments, and that showed throughout the year as he managed our offense to near perfection. We’re going to miss his leadership but also extremely excited to watch him develop into a dynamic tight end at Monmouth.”
