Pierre Armstrong – Salisbury University (Lacrosse)
Major: Communications
Final list of colleges: Salisbury, Lynchburg, Stevenson
Reasons for choosing Salisbury: “I chose Salisbury because it was the closest, and it made me feel the most at home. It’s a program where I can compete for a national championship every year.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “For a while, I didn’t know if I wanted to play in college or not. I realized I would probably miss lacrosse if I didn’t, and I didn’t want to have any regrets. I realized if I didn’t make anything happen, it could eventually become too late to ever do anything.”
Coach John Kurek says: “The big thing about Pierre – he’s a true captain, a true leader. He’s a student of the game, he teaches other players around him about the game. He enjoys it – he’s been playing it since he was a little kid, and to have him playing it in college where it’s going to help him get a college degree is just a very good thing to have happened for him. He’s getting everything he deserves.
“Pierre is a very well-rounded player, but his best strength is being a leader. His big thing is he likes to tell the other players how the game is played, and it actually helps his teammates around him. His mental game – that’s what makes our team pretty successful. He helps plan with the kids, he helps practice with the kids, he critiques other players and tells them what would help make them a better player. He’s a good one.”
