On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Hatboro-Horsham seniors Sarah Parker, Emelia Erikson, Kendall Goelz and Annie Ji were recognized for committing to swim at the collegiate level.
Hatboro-Horsham coach George ‘Kip’ Emig: “As freshmen, Sarah Parker, Annie Ji and Emmy Erikson came in a pretty good group, a group that had been top 10 in the state, and they just solidified a state championship. We won by 63 points their freshman year. Their sophomore year, three of the girls (from the state title team) graduated, and Annie Ji, her sister, Sarah, and Emmy – we were second that year with only five girls. We actually won the swimming portion of the meet by over 30 points, but we had no diving points, so we actually didn’t win the state title that year because basically the diving. North Allegheny (the state champ) had 48 points in diving.
“Their junior year, the three of them plus two younger girls in two different relays scored enough to be third, and this year with only four girls, we go third. They were just impressive. Annie Ji leading the pack, but Sarah Parker and Emmy (Erikson) are just lights out. If they’re on any other team in the state of Pennsylvania, they’re the best three girls on the team. Their medal count alone is amazing, the All-American honors, top 100 in the country in every event. It’s been a great run, and they’re super kids – they’re just smart, kind kids, and it’s just been so much fun.
“Kendall Goelz is a great story. She swam a little bit when she was young but didn’t really take it seriously until her sophomore year. As soon as she took it seriously, she took off. Even last year, the coaches were like, ‘Well, she’s not quite good enough yet,’ but she worked her butt off. I talked to the Ursinus Coach. He looked at her times and said, ‘I definitely want her,’ and she wanted to go there. It was her number one school choice, so she’s going to swim at Ursinus, which is amazing. Out of nowhere – she put the time and effort in, and it was great.”
