On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Hatboro-Horsham senior Dylan Fesmire was recognized for committing to continue his lacrosse career at Virginia Military Academy
Dylan Fesmire – Virginia Military University (Lacrosse)
Coach Gauntlett Walker says: “First and foremost, the thing that makes Dylan a dominant defender – not even a defender but just a lacrosse player in general is he’s very versatile. As he was coming up, he played a little bit of short stick for us because we had a logjam at the long pole position. He’s also taken face-offs for us, and he was a long pole for us. What makes him really good is his physical prowess. He’s able to physically dominate other players. He’s also a very smart player, very cerebral. He’s able to diagnose what offenses are doing and set up his teammates in the position where – if they’re a little bit confused – he’s able to put them in the right places to be successful. As he’s gone from a freshman to a senior, he’s gotten better at communicating with the coaches about what he’s seeing on the field and basically what he thinks will work out. We meet him in the middle with different things we think will be successful when we’re out there.
“We don’t really have a lot of Division 1 players that come out of the lacrosse program. He’s definitely put in the hard work. He was nervous about missing out on the junior year because of all the recruiting stuff. He would send me text messages and pictures and would say, ‘I just finished my first mile, fastest time ever…’ It was evident he was putting in the work when nobody was watching essentially because he wanted it that bad, and he knew that to get to that Division 1 level, which he was obviously capable of doing, he needed to put in the work on his own, and he was definitely doing that.”
