Matty Harmon – Jefferson University (Soccer)

Major:  Architecture

Final list of colleges:  Jefferson, Penn State

Reasons for choosing Jefferson:  “I wanted to play soccer because I really love the sport, and I thought it would be the best option for me.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?  “That’s always been a goal for me since I was a little kid. I’ve played soccer my whole life, and that was always what I was trying to get to.”

Coach Kyle McGrath says:  “Matty came into our program, and he had an older brother to look up to, but the thing that I like most about him was he became his own person. He became his own player, and he outdid any of the expectations that I had for him throughout his career. He turned into a leader on and off the field for us, which is something that through our relationship we really worked on. To see him grow into the player he is today – not only on the field but also in the classroom and with his teammates being named the captain this year was something I’m most proud of. I know he’s going to have great success at Jefferson, and I’m super excited to watch him play.”
