On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Hatboro-Horsham senior Maddy Patel was recognized for committing to continue her basketball career at Bryn Mawr College.

Reasons for choosing Bryn Mawr: “I really liked the community. It seemed really welcoming. I wanted a school that was pretty rigorous academically, and I feel like sometimes those schools can get competitive between the students, and I didn’t
really feel that there, and I really liked that.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “I started realizing I wanted to do basketball in college in seventh or eighth grade, which was a tricky spot because of COVID. I did a lot of training with my trainer, and I really grew to love the sport, and it became a big part of my life.”
Coach Eric Glemser: “When I first met Maddy, she was super excellent in all the drills and skills she did. She looked like basically an all-league player, but in the first few years in the games - as a freshman and sophomore, you could tell she had the jitters. The game was faster for her, but her junior and senior year, she was steady for us.
“My point guard got hurt this year, so Maddy had to be the point guard, but I didn’t have many people to help her. She had to score for us, she had to break the press. We were young.
“Maddy is involved in so many things, and she would miss practice sometimes, and that hurt a little bit, but the work she put in before practice, after practice, in the summer, and still – to this day – comes to all our open gyms. She wants to have the ball in her hand. She’s going to play at Bryn Mawr, and that’s great for her. She’s a great student.
“She was a very quiet kid, but the last few years she’s come out of her shell a little bit. She was always polite, and even if I was critical of her, she never back talked. She is just an ultimate team player, and she was a captain for two years.”
