On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Hatboro-Horsham senior Maggie O’Neill was recognized for committing to play soccer at Sacred Heart University.

Final list of colleges: Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, George Washington, Scranton
Reasons for choosing Sacred Heart: “I chose Sacred Heart because of the campus and highly ranked nursing program. The campus is brand new and is continually being built upon. The school offers me the opportunity to continue playing soccer at the D1 level while receiving an amazing education.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I knew I always wanted to play soccer at college, and it has always been a dream of mine to compete Division 1. I began looking at schools freshman year and went to a variety of showcases and began communicating with coaches. Obviously, COVID made things extremely difficult, but through a lot of emails, conversations, I was able to find a fit at Sacred Heart University.”
Coach Kelsey Daley says: “Maggie is one of the hardest workers I have ever met. She gives 110 percent in everything she does, whether it’s a game, practice, conditioning or being a leader. She is so dedicated to the game of soccer and also her teammates. Some of my best memories as a coach are goals or plays made by Maggie. The three years I have been a coach she has completely changed the HH girls soccer program around for the best - three playoff appearances, winning the league and being a competitive top contender in the league. She is so tiny but has the biggest heart and hustle for this game. Maggie has been a three-year all-league selection, Southeastern PA player, captain and MVP. She has made a huge impact on the HH program and paved the way for the younger girls after her. She is going to do great things at Sacred Heart and they are so lucky to have her.”
