Bekah Hershey – Lock Haven University (Field Hockey)

Major:  Health Sciences

Reasons for choosing Lock Haven:  “I chose Lock Haven because it’s a good distance from home but still close enough. I liked the feel of the school and the smaller size. It has a good field hockey program, and it also has new science facilities.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate field hockey? “I always loved playing, and I think around 10th grade, I started looking at colleges.”

Favorite high school field hockey memory:  “I think my greatest overall memory of high school hockey was learning from awesome athletes who came before me and having coaches and teammates who really developed my love for the game. My favorite game memory is beating North Penn in overtime during a night game on our field my sophomore year.”

Coach Lauren Whiteside says:  “Bekah is a ball of energy - and a very positive one I might add.  She is a natural born captain and a leader. Bekah was the main voice of the team and was constantly communicating with her teammates.  She has a way of reading her teammates feelings and knows exactly what to say at the right time. While playing a star role on defense, she was able to see the entire field and was one of the most versatile players for us. From corner defense to a striker on offensive corners, she was drawn to the ball to make it happen. Her work ethic is one that can never be duplicated and is always working to make herself better - staying late at practice or taking any opportunity she can to play.  She is a leader, a role model and a friend to everyone.
“Both Bekah and Tabatha (Almond) are the type of players that can never be replaced or duplicated.  They compliment each other and work extremely well with anyone they play with.  Lock Haven is getting two amazing athletes and teammates with great work ethic and versatility.”
