Heather Lutz – Millersville University (Softball)
Major: Elementary Education/Special Education
Final list of schools: Millersville, West Chester, La Salle
Reasons for choosing Millersville: “The moment I went there I fell in love with it. I loved the coach, and I liked the team a lot. I just felt comfortable there. I felt like it was my place to go.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball? “I’ve always wanted to play softball in college. Seeing my cousins go off and play in college really influenced me too because I wanted to be like them.
“When I made varsity as a freshman, that’s when I really pushed it and started working very hard at it. My recruiting started in 11th grade, so it was on the later side, but it worked out well.”
Coach Joe DiFilippo says: “Everything you tell Heather to do – she works at. I have had Heather play second base, first base and the outfield. Heather is a phenomenal rightfielder. She is one of the best rightfielders in the league. She gets a great jump on the ball, and she’s developing into a pretty good hitter. Kids like this will keep me in contention for another year.”
