Matthew Meyers – East Stroudsburg University (Baseball)

Major:  Sports Management or Physical Education

Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg: “I like the location, how it’s in the mountains, and it was really nice in the fall. I like cold weather more than hot weather.
“Coach D (Frank Decembrino) introduced me to the coach at the Carpenter Cup tryouts, and I really liked him. The first day they could call prospects, he said I was his first call. I visited twice, and I really liked it.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball?  “When my brother went to college for soccer, it was always a dream of mine to play baseball and pursue baseball in college, take it to the next level.”

Coach Frank Decembrino says:  “Matt started in ninth grade as a varsity player, and he has been a very impactful person in the middle of the lineup since his ninth grade year. He’s always hit at least fifth, and he’s a catalyst offensively. He’s also matured and grown as a player, and he’s nowhere near his ceiling. He has incredible potential. Physically, he has size, strength and speed, and we’re just seeing the beginning of the quality of play.
“I think East Strdousburg is an awesome fit. I went there, and this is the type of player coach (John) Kochmansky looks for offensively. He will fit into their style of baseball, especially as an offensive player.”
