Ben Moller – Marist College (Baseball)

Major:  Criminal Justice

Final list of colleges:  Marist, Bucknell, VCU, Pitt

Reasons for choosing Marist:  “I fell in love with the campus as soon as I set foot on it. The coaches are great. They are nationally renowned for the major I’m going to pursue, and their baseball program is awesome.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate baseball?  “I had a dream of playing college baseball ever since I was a little kid. When I went to my first big showcase and I saw all the ballplayers, I was like, ‘Wow, I want to be like those kids,’ and that’s really what got me going toward college baseball. Seeing how college baseball players carried themselves – it’s different from basketball or football. They carried themselves in a different way, and I wanted to be a part of it. When I started (varsity) my freshman year, I thought it was possible.”

Coach Mike Schaefer says:  “Ben Moller has been a three-year player for us. He started shortstop as a freshman, which was the first time in school history that we started a freshman. We’re only in our ninth year as a school, but that’s a pretty notable thing. He made an impact from the beginning. Just seeing him swing the bat and throw the ball, we knew he would play college baseball. He has all of the tools for playing at the next level – strength, speed, power, good hands, and a strong arm, to name a few. Over the years, he has been able to play a lot of different positions for us, and we’re really looking forward to having him back and being an impact maker on the field.”
