Dan Murphy – Lock Haven University (Football)
Major: Criminal Justice
Final list of colleges: Lock Haven, Bloomsburg
Reasons for choosing Lock Haven: “When I went on a visit, I liked it a lot. I talked to the coaches, and I really liked the coaches. I think it’s the best fit for me.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football? “I’ve been playing football ever since second grade. It’s been part of my life basically my whole life. It’s what I’ve done every year.”
Coach Jeff Cappa says: “Dan is a hard-nosed football player, and he dedicated himself in the offseason to our strength and conditioning program, which was a direct result of what he did on the field. He was our leading rusher, and he was named the SuburbanOneSports.com American Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Dan was a tremendous leader. There were a lot of things that made our season successful. Dan was certainly an anchor of that because we moved his position from wingback to our tailback spot, and the tailback is the focus of our offense. He became the premiere running back in our offense, and that really turned our season around. We were able to rely on him because of his running ability. He had the strength to break tackles, and he had the speed to run away from guys and score touchdowns. He had a lot of attributes that make people great running backs.”
