Chris Wilson – Wagner College (Football)

Major:  Criminal Justice

Final list of colleges:  Wagner, East Stroudsburg, Millersville

Reasons for choosing Wagner:  “It’s a program that I wanted to join. It’s definitely a program that’s growing, and I want to be part of it. The coaching staff – the offensive line coach and I just clicked. My recruiter, coach (Steve) Ciocci, was from Spring-Ford, and we had a lot in common. He definitely made it a lot easier for me.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “I knew I wanted to play in college since I was six. Me and my brother were talking – I had no idea what a scholarship was, but he told me, ‘If you play football and you’re good at it, you can get money to go to college.’ I knew that’s what I wanted to do.”

Coach Steve Wilmot said:  “Chris was a two-year starter for us. Between his 10th grade year and his 11th grade year, Chris grew four inches to 6-5. His junior year he was a good player for us, played his butt off, but he was still trying to grow into his body. He spent a lot of time last offseason doing a lot of agility drills and strength training. He really grew into his body in a really positive way. This past season for us he had a real solid season. The one overriding thing – Chris always worked at his craft. He showed up every day at practice wanting to get better, knowing exactly what he had to work on based on the feedback I gave him as his offensive line coach. He would work really hard on whatever his weakness was or whatever the opponent needs were for that week. He’s just a very conscientious person. I told all the coaches that came in and looked at him that he just works at his craft. That’s the one thing I kept saying because it’s really the truth. He’s just a real solid kid, and he’s probably one of the bigger offensive linemen we’ve had here.”
