Neshaminy senior Zac Martin was recognized for committing to continue his wrestling career at Lehigh University.
Zac Martin
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Lehigh, UPenn, Drexel
Reasons for choosing Lehigh: “I chose Lehigh University since it is an outstanding school academically with a phenomenal wrestling program.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in wrestling at the collegiate level? “Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to go to college and wrestle Division 1. Wrestling has taught me so many lessons and has given me unbreakable relationships that I am super grateful for.
Coach Frank Bing says: “He’s a great person from a great family. He’s grown so much since his freshman year. Watching him come in as a 106-pounder, 113-pounder and watching him grow and become a full-fledged man – he practices with my son who’s a Division 1 wrestler at Franklin & Marshall, that’s his main partner. He’s probably one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever seen – he works that hard at it, and it really showed as soon as he walked into the room his freshman year. He got bigger, he got stronger, he lifts weights during the offseason. He does everything right, so he should have a very promising college career. I think he has the possibility of being better in college than in high school. He’s going to have a bright future even without wrestling.
“Last year was a big year for Zac. He won the Christmas Tournament at Governor Mifflin and then he went on a tear in the tournaments. He was a Regional champ and ended up taking sixth in the state at 132. He came one match away from medaling his sophomore year.”
