Maria Sinni – Eastern Mennonite University (Softball & Field Hockey)
Major:
Biology
Final list of colleges:  EMU, Florida Southern, Penn State, Arcadia
Reasons for choosing EMU:  “When I went there, it felt like a family. I was very comfortable on campus. When I met the coaches, they treated me like I was one of the family and treated me like I was one of their daughters.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball?  “When I was younger, I actually wanted to play softball for the Florida Gators. With my major, being in biology and wanting to be a doctor – I knew D-3 was probably the best spot for me.”

Softball coach Jim McCarthy says:  “Maria plays third base and has either been in either the three hole or four hole for three years. She has been a very solid player on the corner and with her bat. In 10th and 11th grades, she was our offensive player of the year both years. She comes to practice every day ready to work and learn. She has a strong work ethic, and she always wants to try her best and do better, moving her game forward.”
Field hockey coach Rachel Shuster says:  “Softball is her main sport. She didn’t play field hockey last year. She was right there with my seniors, and she can hold her own on the field. She’s a lot of fun and the kind of kid you would want on your team.”

Ally Taylor – Franklin & Marshall College (Softball)

Double major in Environmental Science & Animal Behavior
Final list of colleges:  Franklin & Marshall, Scranton, Penn State
Reasons for choosing F&M:  “It has a beautiful campus, and when I stayed there with friends, they were all extremely nice, and the team is amazing too.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball?  “Ever since I started playing travel ball when I was 10 years old and then once I got to high school and I still played, I knew I wanted to play in college.”
Coach Jim McCarthy says:  “Ally has played center field, shortstop, pitched and first base. She is one of the stronger players I’ve had the opportunity to coach, being able to move her based on what our team needs are and what the lineup warrants. She’s a very pleasant young lady to coach. She has a very strong work ethic, shows up every day ready to play and ready to learn.”
