North Penn Foursome to Play Collegiate Soccer

On Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, four North Penn seniors were recognized for committing to compete in soccer at the collegiate level.

“All of the girls contributed different things to the team and will be sorely missed,” North Penn coach Michael Rio said. “I have no doubt they will each make an impact on their teams next year and will continue to show the same qualities that they have during their time here. It has really been awesome to get to coach these girls, and they have made the job really enjoyable.”

Maddie Cimino – Moravian University (Soccer)
Major:
Nursing
Final list of colleges: Moravian, Gettysburg, Arcadia
Reasons for choosing Moravian: “I ultimately chose Moravian because of their great nursing program, and it was really close to home.”
Coach Michael Rio says: Although Maddie was injured this season, she really developed into a strong player, and we really missed having her on the field. However, she was still an important part of the team and acted as a mentor to some of the younger girls and never missed a practice or game. Sometimes injuries can reveal the true character of a player, and Maddie showed that she is someone that work hard and also there for her teammates.”

Izzy Kee – Wilkes University (Soccer)
Major:
Biomedical engineering
Final list of colleges: Wilkes, Widener, RIT
Reasons for choosing Wilkes: “Ultimately, I chose Wilkes University because their atmosphere and their team – I truly loved both. Also, the small class sizes, and they have a four-plus-one master’s program for biomedical engineering, which was a big deciding factor for me.”
Coach Michael Rio says: “Izzy was an incredible leader who worked tirelessly on and off the field to do what was best for the team. On the field, she was aggressive and vocal and was a really a strong anchor in the midfield for us. She pushes the other girls to succeed and reach their potential while also maintaining a lot of accountability for her own play. She has a great soccer IQ and ability to analyze the game.”

Lily McGee – Immaculata University (Soccer)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges: Immaculata, Catholic University
Reasons for choosing Immaculata: “I ultimately chose Immaculata because it’s close to home, and I liked the coach and the team.”
Coach Michael Rio says: “Lily showed phenomenal growth and improvement through her four years here and developed into a really dangerous attacking player. She always gave everything she had and became someone we couldn’t take off the field. She was also always someone who could lighten the mood and was able to get the girls laughing and her energy in practice always brought out the best in her teammates. “

Maddy Murphy – SUNY University of Buffalo (Soccer)
Major:
Business
Final list of colleges: Buffalo, San Diego, La Salle, American
Reasons for choosing Buffalo:  “I ultimately chose the University of Buffalo because of the amazing team atmosphere, and it will allow me to excel not only in soccer but also in in the classroom.”
Coach Michael Rio says: “Maddy was an incredibly strong player and leader for our team. Over the past few seasons, she has led the team in goals and has been our most dangerous player. She was always willing to put the pressure on herself and live up to that expectation to help the team be successful. It takes a special player to rise to that pressure and embrace the role that she had with our team.”
