Alexa Juska – Slippery Rock University (Lacrosse)
Major: Exercise Science/Physical Therapy
Reasons for choosing Slippery Rock: “I was looking at other schools in the PSAC, but right from the start - from the day I met the coaches at Slippery Rock, they were so friendly and welcoming. Every time since I’ve been on campus it’s felt like I’m already a part of the team.”
What does it mean to have signed your letter of intent to play collegiate lacrosse? “I’ve been playing lacrosse since I was a little kid, but this season most of my teammates won’t ever play this sport again competitively, and we get to keep on playing for the next four years. It’s just a really great feeling to be able to keep on playing the sports that have shaped our lives.”
Coach Heather Mellow says: “Alexa is an amazing young woman. I remember when she showed up her freshman year, and she was just so bright-eyed and excited to learn and just loved the sport of lacrosse. Honestly, I’ve known her three-and-a-half years, and I don’t think that perspective has changed at all. She’s still that same young woman. She has been an important part of our team and has been a starter since her sophomore year as a defender. Alexa was recently named captain of our 2020 program. She’s a very strong leader, especially in the backfield where she is a very good defender. We’re going to be looking to that leadership and her experience to help lead us and guide us to another league championship. Slippery Rock is getting such a great athlete that is very dedicated, hardworking and coachable. She’s going to do amazing up there. They’re very fortunate to have her on their roster.”
