On Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, North Penn senior Paige Mitchell was recognized for signing a letter of intent to compete in water polo at La Salle University.

Reasons for choosing La Salle: “Overall, La Salle really checked all the boxes off. It’s close to home, I really liked all the girls on the team, the coach was really welcoming, and they have a really good business program, so I’m very excited.”
Coach Jason Grubb says: “Paige has been one of our major contributors the last four years. She’s a three-time state champion. We did not have a state championship last year. As a sophomore,
she scored one of the biggest goals in our program’s history in an extremely tight game, scoring with only 50 seconds to go to break a tie to win our sixth straight state championship. She is our center, which is one of the most grueling positions in any sport. You’re swimming all the time, and not only does she have to control the ball, the person behind her is trying to dunk her, there are people coming in trying to dunk her, and she has to be one of our leading scorers, which she was this year. She also learned this year to be more of a facilitator as well, getting everyone involved, so she is extremely good at being that team player. She made a great transition of going from one of the team to a leader this year as one of our captains. This was an extremely difficult year with injuries, just everything going on, and going into the state tournament, we were the fourth seed. No four seed has ever made a state final game. We were the first team to ever knock off the number one seed prior to the state finals, and then we ended up winning as the first team as the number four seed to ever get in that position, and Paige was one of our main contributors for that. She was an All-American last year as a junior, and she should be an All-American this year as a senior. I know the La Salle coach very well, and he’s extremely excited to have her join that program, so congratulations, Paige.”
