Reasons for choosing Saint Francis: “Saint Francis just by far with their majors and campus – I wanted to go there. It’s also my dream to play Division I water polo, so it was a perfect fit for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in water polo at the collegiate level? “I knew since the beginning (I wanted to compete in water polo at college). I love to play, and that was something I wanted to do for a long time.”
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from playing sports? “There’s a lot, but really – you have to work your butt off if you want to achieve what you want to, and you have to stay on top of everything.”
Coach Jason Grubb says: “I have had the privilege of coaching Rosalinda for many, many years from age group all the way up through high school. I was actually her third high school water polo coach. It is typically a hard thing to go through so many coaching changes. She is one of the anchors of our team. She’s probably leaving our school as one of the most decorated water polo goalies in our state’s history. She’s a three-year starter on three state championship teams and was also a member of a fourth state championship as well, so she has been part of championship seasons throughout. She has been an anchor to our defense. We pretty much do all of our offense and defense around Rosalinda because she’s going to be back there stopping everything that’s coming our way. She’s also the quarterback of our offense going the other way, so she plays two roles as a goalie. I’m actually good friends with her college coach, and he’s extremely excited to have her. He’s been trying to get her for a couple of years now. We’re going to be sorely missing her in the future.”
