On Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, Pennridge seniors Lauren Rush, Amelia Loughery and Maddy Edinger were recognized for committing to continue their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level.
Maddy Edinger – West Chester University (Lacrosse)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: West Chester, Widener
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “It’s close to home, and I like the school and the team.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I decided junior year that I wanted to continue playing in college.”
Coach Karen Feher says: “Maddy is the go-getter in the midfield. She’s everywhere, she’s all over the ball, she’s quick as lightening. Her work ethic – she was the one during the COVID shutdown that got girls to go to Central Middle School to do some wall ball. All three of the seniors as a whole stepped up as leaders their junior year, and I think that’s because they lost their sophomore year, so they came back really wanting to play, wanting to do well.”
About Maddy:
Favorite food: Mac ‘n Cheese
Favorite TV show: Virgin River
Favorite artist: Adele
Amelia Loughery – Liberty University (Lacrosse)
Major: Biopsychology
Final list of colleges: Liberty, Messiah University
Reasons for choosing Liberty: “It’s a perfect location, a great school, and they have an amazing team and coaches.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I’ve played lacrosse as long as I could remember. I started playing club lacrosse for Ultimate in seventh grade, so that is probably when I wanted to play in college. Recruiting didn’t really start until high school and mainly junior year, but sophomore summer is when colleges looked. COVID really messed up the whole recruiting process.”
Coach Karen Feher says: “Amelia is a force on attack. She’s like the brains behind the operation. She’s our vocal leader on offense where she can see plays being formed and all-around just has a great attitude. All three of these since they came in as freshmen are dedicated to the team, always coming to open practices.”
About Amelia:
Favorite food: Peanut Butter
Favorite TV show: Criminal Minds
Favorite artist: Luke Combs
Lauren Rush – West Chester University (Lacrosse)
Major: Psychology
Final list of colleges: West Chester, Mount St. Mary’s, La Salle, Monmouth, Kutztown
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “I wanted a strong, competitive lacrosse program with a family-like environment, and I found that at WCU. When I visited for camp, right away I could see myself playing there. I loved the coaches and the team and knew WCU was going to be my next home.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I really fell in love with lacrosse freshman year, and that’s when I knew I wanted to play at the collegiate level. My club coach was a huge cheerleader for me and really helped me believe I could play at the next level. COVID really hit hard for me and messed with my recruiting process, but in the end, I ended up at a great school with a great lacrosse program.”
Coach Karen Feher says: “Lauren Rush is the heart and soul of our defense. She’s a steady defender, and she’s just a natural athlete that takes a lot on her shoulders. She’s a vocal leader on defense, and she’s definitely brought the younger girls along. She’s our backer, and she’s just strong and solid on defense. The three of them mesh well together, and they are the leaders on the team. There will be a huge hole without them both vocally, their presence on the field and also their attitudes. They all live and breathe lacrosse.”
