Meghan Griffin – Mansfield University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Elementary/Special Education
Final list of colleges:  Mansfield, Gwynedd Mercy, University of Vermont, Dickinson
Reasons for choosing Mansfield:  “It was the perfect size and distance from home, and it has a growing field hockey program.
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I’ve always wanted to play field hockey. I love field hockey. My mom played field hockey in high school.”

Coach Becky Spahr says: “Meghan is an extremely skilled player, and that paired with a new sense of work ethic she got this year – she’s going to be a really big asset to Mansfield. I think she’s going to make a difference as soon as she gets into that program. Meghan is a great player because she sees the field really well, and she also has skills beyond most players her age.”
About Meghan:
Favorite food:  Mac ‘n Cheese
Favorite movie:  The Dead Poets Society
Favorite music:  Country

Larissa Motts – Mansfield University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Elementary Education
Final list of colleges:  Mansfield, Kutztown
Reasons for choosing Mansfield:  “It’s a small school in a remote area that I felt comfortable in. I wanted to have a chance to play field hockey, and it fit my personality.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about it at the end of my junior year. I just thought about it – I fell in love with the sport, and I wanted to continue it.”
Coach Becky Spahr says:  “Larissa was our breakout player this year. She really stepped up a lot for us, and I think that’s her confidence being built. My biggest thing for her is to keep building on that confidence and not step back at all when she goes to school. She’s the fastest player I’ve ever coach, which obviously makes her a great asset, and she’s building her stick skills. Overall, she’s a really hard worker. She wants her team to be successful, so she’s a very good team player. She’s putting in the time to get better and better.”
About Larissa:
Favorite food:
Pasta
Favorite movie:  Transformers
Favorite music:  Country

Jenna Richardson – Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Field Hockey)
Major:
Psychology
Final list of colleges:  IUP, West Chester, Bloomsburg, Ursinus
Reasons for choosing IUP:  “I fell in love with the school as soon as I stepped on campus. I automatically clicked with the team, and I really liked how the coach ran the program.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I started thinking about it sophomore year because that’s when I started playing club and I started realizing that it’s something I really enjoyed and that I wanted to pursue it as long as I could.”
Coach Becky Spahr says:  “Jenna can play a bunch of different positions. With Jenna, the best thing about her is she loves field hockey, and that’s going to make her successful because she’s going to put in the time to get better and better. I think IUP is the perfect fit for her. She is a worker, but she also has also those intangibles – she knows how to mark, she knows how to play good defense, and she can play anywhere on the field.”
