Ray Knight – Misericordia University (Baseball)

Major:  Business

Final list of colleges:  Misericordia, West Chester, DeSales, University of Delaware

Reasons for choosing Misericordia:  “I talked to the coach on the phone over the summer, and he wanted me to come up for a visit. I came up, and I enjoyed it a lot. I went for another visit – an overnight. I stayed with the players and did their schedule. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, I liked the guys and the way the program was ran. The baseball program is very successful. Overall, it was a good fit for me and my family.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level?  “I have always wanted to play college baseball ever since I was a little kid. I never really knew where or how it would happen, but I always loved it from the beginning. I always dreamed of playing in college.

“At the end of my junior year, I started talking to a couple of coaches, I started e-mailing, I talked to a lot of coaches over the summer and visited some campuses. I just liked Misericordia.”

Coach Tom Nuneviller says:  “He’s a great kid, a hard worker. He’s got a good glove – he played a little bit of shortstop sophomore year and a little bit last year, but we moved him over to second base, and he felt a little more comfortable over there. He’s got a good swing and hits the ball pretty well. I know sophomore year he hit a nice home run at Upper Perk. I’m excited for him. He wanted to play at the next level, and for him to know where he’s going before the season starts is going to be very beneficial for him. He can enjoy his senior year, go out when the season starts and play baseball and won’t have to worry – ‘I have to be perfect today for a coach that’s coming to see me.’”
