Danny Long – Monmouth University (Baseball)

Major:  Business

Final list of colleges:  Monmouth, Millersville, La Salle

Reasons for choosing Monmouth:  “I wanted to say close to home, and it’s a good distance. I loved the campus, and I also have a good relationship with the coaches.”

What was the progression that led you to playing baseball at the collegiate level?  “It was always a dream of mine to play college sports, and after my freshman year, things started to pick up a little bit, and it became a reality.”

Pennridge baseball coach Tom Nuneviller says:  “He’s just an extremely hard worker, and he loves the competition. He loves to play, and he works hard. After basketball practices, he stayed a long time and kept shooting. He would go to one of the local gyms and shoot around after practices. He’s always willing to work hard. Sometimes if we were able to get gym time – after basketball practice, he would jump in the batting cage and get a couple of rounds and throw a little bit to get his arm in shape. He’s just a competitor and a very hard worker.”

Pennridge basketball coach Dean Behrens says:  “Dan has meant a lot to the school just in regard to the way he carries himself and the way he behaves. He’s an absolute gentleman, and teachers enjoy having him in class. For both programs –baseball and basketball, he’s meant a lot of wins for the coaches. He’s a three-year starter in two sports, and that doesn’t happen all the time. What’s unique about Dan is he wants to win. He doesn’t worry about average or points. He just wants to win, and fortunately, in both programs, he’s been part of playoff baseball and basketball. We won three divisions with him in basketball, and baseball has had good quality teams.”
