Wiss Chiappetta – Salve Regina University/Pells Honors Program (Softball)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Salve Regina, Drew, Dickinson, NYU
Reasons for choosing Salve Regina: Location, Community, Coach
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “Freshman year when I started playing for a U18 showcase team is when I realized I wanted to keep playing at the next level. The spring of my freshman year is when I officially started my recruiting process.”
Coach Wendy Iadonisi says: “Wiss played second base for me, and one thing that stood out with her was her composure when she’s on the field. She never seemed to get flustered, she always played solid defense for us, and you could count on her to go in the gap or cover first if she needed to. I’ve actually known Wiss a long time – since she was little playing for Deep Run, but this was only the second year that I’ve been able to coach her, so it was nice to see her develop. She was more of a quiet leader. Off the field, you could see that developing during our winter workouts, which was really nice to see her grow into that role off the field also. I think the younger kids looked up to her.”

Victoria Moscariello – Gwynedd Mercy University (Softball)
Major: Pediatric Nursing
Reasons for choosing Gwynedd Mercy: “Gwynedd was always my first choice. They have a great nursing program and softball program. Family and friends went there and they love the campus and the programs, and it’s close to home so I can still help with the family restaurant.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “I want to continue to play the sport I love. I started playing softball when I was four years old and continued through travel and high school ball. I knew I wanted to continue playing in college since my freshman year of high school, and Gwynedd Mercy’s coach saw me playing at a travel ball game.”
Coach Wendy Iadonisi says: “Victoria would have played first for me this year. She was moved to the outfield for the past two years on varsity. First base is more of her natural position, so it would have been nice to see what she would have done at first for us. I’ve also known Victoria for a long time, and she’s also really grown into a strong, independent young lady - you could see that also off the field during winter workouts. I think she would have been a great leader also this year. We were looking for her to step into that leadership role, and I think she would have done a really nice job with that in the infield.”
