Pennridge's Novashinski & Lilly to Play Collegiate Softball

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Pennridge seniors Destiny Novashinski & Ryleigh Lilly were recognized for committing to play collegiate softball.

Ryleigh Lilly – University of Maryland Eastern Shore (Softball)
Major:
Sports Management
Final list of colleges: Maryland Eastern Shore, Fairleigh Dickinson
Reasons for choosing Maryland Eastern Shore: “I chose Maryland Eastern Shore for the atmosphere and coaching staff.”
Coach Kristyn Marinelli: “First and foremost, Ryleigh is a competitor, and she is an athlete. She played field hockey, and that’s where she suffered her injury, so it put her out of commission for this season. It’s always unfortunate to see a senior not be able to play their senior season, but it’s completely understandable because she’s going to play at the next level.
“What I want to commend Ryleigh on is obviously her athleticism, and she’s a competitor. However, this season, she was able to watch and digest other facets of the game from the mental to the decision making – almost from the perspective on the bench that she wouldn’t be able to see if she was playing, so I hope that helps her grow as a player. I appreciate her efforts to stay a part of the team because she couldn’t play. I think it will help her as a player as she moves into this next level.”

Destiny Novashinski – Lycoming College (Softball)

Reasons for choosing Lycoming: “I chose Lycoming because of the academic programs, a ton of opportunities and a welcoming community.”
Coach Kristyn Marinelli: “Destiny is a great kid. I’ve known Destiny since she was probably 10, 11 or 12 years old. Her work ethic and what she’s going to accomplish at a place like Lycoming – it’s going to be a great fit for her. She’s someone who works hard, she wants to succeed, and she served in many roles. She pitched for us, she played first for us, she hit for us. I’m excited to see what she can accomplish at the next level at Lycoming.”
