Pennsbury's Foote & DeFinis to Play Collegiate Softball

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, Pennsbury seniors Presley Foote & Hannah DeFinis were recognized for committing to compete in collegiate softball.

Presley Foote – West Chester University (Softball)
Major:
Education
Final list of colleges: West Chester, St. Joe’s, Muhlenberg, Kutztown
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “The coaching is great, and I’m familiar with a few people that go there already. It’s close to home, and my parents get to watch my games.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “Freshman year I started thinking maybe I could play in college. I saw a bunch of upperclassmen and seniors I played with that inspired me to keep playing a sport that I love to play.
Coach Frank McSherry says: “Presley Foote is the best. She makes it easy to go to practice every day. She never changes – she always has a smile on her face, she’s always working so hard. She does what we ask her to do. We always say – with good players, you can’t tell if it’s practice or a game, and that’s her. You can’t tell. She just brings a smile to your face every day. I know it’s a cliché, but you can’t teach speed. We’ve been lucky with her. She’s lightning.”
About Presley:
Favorite food:
Chicken fingers
Favorite movie: Wreck-It Ralph
Favorite music/artists: Country/Morgan Whalen, Luke Combs & Zach Bryan

Hannah DeFinis – Molloy University (Softball)
Major:
Political Science or Criminal Justice
Final list of colleges: Molloy, Stockton, Marist
Reasons for choosing Molloy: “When I got there, it just felt like I belonged there. I liked the coaches, the players, the environment, the classrooms – just everything.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “Since I first started, I’ve always wanted to play softball in college. My eighth grade travel year I started attending college (camps), and they started seeing me.”
Coach Frank McSherry says: “Hannah was a first-year starter last year. She played some shortstop for us and finished up catching for us. She’s a good athlete, so she can play in a lot of different positions. It was her first year on the varsity, so she brought a surprisingly talented bat with her. She had some really big hits for us, and she battles at the plate. She was tremendous blocking balls behind the plate, and she’s a hardworking kid too.”
About Hannah:
Favorite food:
Pasta salad
Favorite movie: Harry Potter
Favorite artist: SZA
