Isabel Glace – Wagner College (Lacrosse)
Major: Undecided but considering Film & Media or Special Education
Final list of colleges: Wagner, Quinnipiac, Marist, Ithaca, Robert Morris
Reasons for choosing Wagner: “Just the location – it was pretty close to here. It’s only an hour and 15 minutes away, so my parents will be able to come to all my games. The campus is pretty small, which I wanted. I wanted a smaller school, and the campus is also very beautiful. It’s in Staten Island, so it’s only a ferry ride away from New York City, so I’m in the city, but I’m not.”
What was the progression that led you to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level? “It all probably started in middle school playing for my club, Lower Bucks Lacrosse. I had some really great coaches, one in particular, Erin Jones. She molded me into the athlete I am today. She taught me everything I know.
“Through there, I started playing Tri-State, which is another club, and I had Christie (Cooper) as a coach there. In seventh or eighth grade, I realized I could probably play in college. I just fell in love with the sport. It’s something I wanted to do. It’s part of me.”
Coach Christie Cooper says: “Isabel is a true defender. She understands every aspect of defense, and when she’s in there, she’s leading the other players – telling them what to do, talking through things, coming up with turnovers and getting the ball out of the defensive end when you need to get it out. She has the confidence to run it up the field and go into attack. She’s that complete defender, that true defender that your team needs, and we’ve really missed having her out on the field this season.”
