Eric Kersten – Lehigh University (Cross Country/Track)
Major: Engineering
Final list of colleges: Lehigh, Boston University, Penn State
Reasons for choosing Lehigh: “I reached out to each of the coaches, and my initial impression of the Lehigh coach was that he was really passionate about me as a runner and as a student. That’s what really made me choose Lehigh.”
What was the progression that led you to running at the collegiate level? “I was always a soccer player and loved soccer, played it all throughout childhood and thought I was going to play soccer in college. At the end of my sophomore year, I did really well – our relay team won states, and I was with a really good group of guys. Ever since that year, I knew that I wanted to run in college and pursue running.”
Coach Tim Cass says: “He had an impact on our program. He led off our relay that was a school record holder. Their time was ranked fourth best in the state ever. He was second team all-state in cross country. He transferred his sophomore year from Holy Ghost Prep, and once he got here he was an impact runner for us. He’s a very hard worker, and he’s a great kid too.”
