Husniyyah Rogers – Prairie View A&M University (Track)

Major:  Sports Medicine

Final list of colleges:  Prairie View A&M, North Carolina A&T, Virginia State, Mississippi State Valley

Reasons for choosing Prairie View A&M:  “They offered me the most money – I got a full scholarship. The school was really nice, and they’re building a new track.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “When I first started in seventh grade, I was like, ‘You’re pretty fast.’ Then it was high school, and I was thinking, ‘This could pay for college.’ I didn’t think it would this much. I feel blessed.”

Coach Tim Cass says:  “I taught her in elementary school, and it’s been great ever since. The energy she had when she got here she had in elementary school. She’s awesome.
“She believes in herself, and I also think she was surrounded by some great teammates. Every single one of them pushed each other, and I think that’s one of the reasons she did so well. We’re going to miss her. She’s fun, but she also was tough as nails.”
