Cate Golden – American University (Lacrosse)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: American, Wagner, Kutztown
Reasons for choosing Kutztown: “I really loved the campus from the moment I visited. I felt right at home with the team and coaches. Also, Washington, DC, is a great city with lots to offer.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about playing in college when I started playing club lacrosse (STEPS Philly) my freshman year in high school. For me, the recruiting process really started when I went to the Nike Camp the summer going into my junior year. It was the first time I got to interact and learn from the college coaches who taught the clinics. At the time, I thought I was so late to the process but really learned every player has their own path.”
Coach Ellen Reilly says: “Cate has been an anchor on the defensive end of the field. As a young player, she was tentative about her ability. She has grown into a very smart, strong player. She has excellent game sense and understanding of team defense. She is a good communicator and leader with her teammates. She has worked hard to be the player she has become. I am excited for her this year. Cate has the ability, skill, and determination to be a contributor at both ends of the field for our team.”
